Festival Jurjevanje in Bela krajina will be a "single-use plastic-free event"

This year's 60th folk festival Jurjevanje in Bela krajina, which will take place from June 19th to 23rd 2024 in Črnomelj, will be a "single-use plastic-free event".

Measures we will implement:

• we will encourage the purchase and use of glass jars,
• drinking fountains and taps will be installed where you can fill water or simply rinse your glass,
• caterers will serve food and drinks in biodegradable packaging, which you can dispose of in the bin for organic waste,
• throughout the event area, we will provide more ecological waste separation islands.

Jurjevanje has been striving each year to make the event with fewer waste according to the guidelines of Zero Waste Slovenia, whose national organization is the association Ecologists Without Borders. In past years, the organizer has introduced organized public transport, electric vehicles for organizers, informed the public about measures and encouraged participation and the use of mobile devices for information about the event, reduced the amount of printed materials, laminated materials for multiple uses, used the principle of reuse in creative workshops, introduced the sale of multipurpose bags and bottles, the use of cutlery, reusable glasses, and the offering of locally sourced food.
